Orange Peel Tea Good Good for Your Diet in So Many Ways 

Apart from using orange peels as zest or flavoring in cooking, many people tend to throw away the peel. I am assuming that we know the fruit of an orange contains loads of the C vitamin. But did you know that the peel of an orange is beneficial for our health, too? In fact, research shows that the peel of an orange has four times more fiber than the actual fruit itself.

Here are some other health benefits from orange peels:

  • contains a chemical that helps relieve heartburn
  • has anti-cholesterol compounds that help reduce bad cholesterol
  • has chemical compounds that can help inhibit the distribution of cancerous cells
  • contains anti-inflammatory properties that help with diarrhea and mild acidity
  • is rich in fiber which help to sooth the stomach and helps relieve constipation and bloating
  • contains loads of Vitamin C which helps helps with bronchitic problems, & cold, flu viruses
  • Contains beta-carotene which provides Vitamin A to help improve vision health and boost the immune system

One of the ways to incorporate orange peel into the diet is by making orange peel tea. Often, you will find me making orange peel tea at home. The tea is very soothing and tastes really good. I usually have to make double batches because my husband and kids love it so much!

Peel of the skin of an orange. Let the peel air dry for a day or two.
Dried Orange Peel

Once the peel is dried, place in a pot with 4 cups boiling water. Boil about 10 minutes.
Making Orange Tea

Remove the peels from the tea and sweeten with your favorite type of sweetener. Or you could leave the peels in there.
Orange Peel Tea

Pour into individual serving cups and serve hot. Enjoy a delicious tea that is so good for you! Makes about 3 to 4 servings.
